Note #8: To the Saddened Heart

Ceasing to see the happy sun
bathing the heavenly trees;
Ceasing to see that it's the time of year
You may do as you please.

Don't sit still as if all this joy
We're just products of wishful thought,
For all that joy restrained all the year
To the surface, must be brought.

I will neither inquire as to the cause of sorrow,
Nor will I bring it out,
But, I will tell you not to be so still,
That it's time to scream and shout.

And if you don't acknowledge then I'll leave it be,
For it will come to you some other way,
That nothing should make you sulk and sigh
And waste a bright summer's day.

The Solitary Reaper

Behold her, single in the field,
Yon solitary Highland Lass!
Reaping and singing by herself;
Stop here, or gently pass!
Alone she cuts and binds the grain,
And sings a melancholy strain;
O listen! for the Vale profound
Is overflowing with the sound.

My grandfather relates me with the Solitary Reaper, single in the field, singing a melancholy song, in my own world, as is, or was, the title of this blog. And I agree, because I do enjoy being all by myself sometimes. No, I don't mean I'm this dark emo loner or anything, its just that I'm such a, solitary reaper...

The Orphan Child by Charlotte Bronte

My feet they are sore, and my limbs they are weary;
Long is the way, and the mountains are wild;
Soon will the twilight close moonless and dreary
Over the path of the poor orphan child.

Why did they send me so far and so lonely,
Up where the moors spread and grey rocks are piled?
Men are hard-hearted, and kind angels only
Watch o'er the steps of a poor orphan child.

Yet distant and soft the night breeze is blowing,
Clouds there are none, and clear stars beam mild,
God, in His mercy, protection is showing,
Comfort and hope to the poor orphan child.

Ev'n should I fall o'er the broken bridge passing,
Or stray in the marshes, by false lights beguiled,
Still will my Father, with promise and blessing,
Take to His bosom the poor orphan child.

There is a thought that for strength should avail me,
Though both of shelter and kindred despoiled;
Heaven is a home, and a rest will not fail me;
God is a friend to the poor orphan child.'

Raindrops are falling on my head...

I went out yesterday, and it rained while we were in the car, so this provided a great opportunity for me to take numerous pictures.

Paintings all over the streets in Bangalore! Isn't it a great idea?

Red Tree

This looks like a man with his arms and face raised, right?

What do you think?
There's one reason why I hate the summer holidays - There's nothing to do!
Occasionally I come across a sheet of foam :

And was wondering what to do with it... suddenly I hit upon an idea.
So I cut it into irregular squares:

And then cut the squares into circles (Why not directly? Because this is easier)

And then I folded into half twice and cut shapes. I think you know what my idea was:

Snowflakes!
These stick to the wall easily because of static electricity, and so they're easily removable. Im yet to colour them up, but I think they still look pretty in white. Like projections in the wall, right?

I sure made a mess though!

J.K.Rowling at Harvard University

I found this speech to be very inspirational, and I really liked what she said. Hope you have the patience to listen to it all, it's really good!

Street Art and The Charm of 'Charm'inar, Hyderabad

Today, we visited Charminar and GVK Mall. I took loads of pictures on the way there, and back, and at Charminar. No clue what Charminar is? Here's a snippet from Wikipedia for you:

Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah, the 5th ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty built Charminar in 1591 shortly after he had shifted his capital from Golkonda to what is now known as Hyderabad[1]. He built this famous structure to commemorate the elimination of a plague epidemic from this city.
You can find out more from here, if you want.
Well, what I figured out from the word "Charminar" is that "Chaar", meaning 'four' and "Minar", meaning Minarets or towers, constitute Charminar, meaning the mosque with four minarets. And I give credit to Wikipedia for confirming my assumption.
So here are the 'specimens of photography' I took there -
I took most of these photos from inside a car, through a very small portion of the window that was unoccupied by a   black screen. So, I should be given credit for even the worst of these photos because it wasn't easy! =)

The Cycle looked good with the white brick background. It made a good picture =)

I always thought "autos" added a lot of character to Indian street art, especially because of their bright colours and weird stickers. (Wait till you see Bangalore autos - they're going green too!

Nice blue shops - and the guy who posed so well!

A pretty nursery on the way...

Amul & Sprite : The tasteS of India!

The Hussain Saagar Lake

Me and my wonderful new camera : Peek-a-boo!

The Legislative Assembly Entrance - A.P.

A "roadside lawn"

School kids- and the guy staring!

I liked the corridor on top in this picture!

A tower of the Charminar, finally!

The Charminar

All of us in front of the Charminar

The Madina Mosque - Outside - Notice the flocks and flocks of pigeons!

Here you can see the pigeons clearly - just wish that dude's head wasnt in the middle!

A minaret in the sunlight

There were several shops at the Charminar, selling shoes (jutas), bangles, fruits, pearls, you name it. This was taken while we stopped to have some sugarcane juice - look at the rows of fruits!

A bundle of sugarcane ready to be squeezed to produce sugarcane juice!

The ceiling from underneath Charminar

Grandmom and I inside Charminar!

An attempt, by some useless bunch of fools, to spoil the beauty of Charminar.

The Buddha Statue at the Hussain Sagar Lake which separates Hyderabad from Secunderabad

A row of pigeons!

The sky, and the wires.

Blurry bougainvilleas!

The summer sky.

Ancient Buildings

Hanuman!

Trees on top of a huge wall.

Blurry branches - The viewer must remember that these pictures were taken on a super fast car!

Sticks in the Sunlight

A crack in the wall.

And that's it! Aah finally - Im sure you're thinking! =)
