Here are some things you can do to kill time:
1.Create a family scrapbook - Sounds dumb, huh? I thought so too till a few days back. Now I'm looking for pictures all over the place to scan! It's actually kind of fun, scraping up pictures and remembering things you did so long ago. Start with getting yourself one of those scrapbook thingies, with colourful pages. Or you can go for one of those classic old albums with black pages, if your starting with black and white pictures from when your grandparents were young. Then select the photos (you may want to keep duplicates just in-case) and stick them around with catchy titles!
2.Go for a swim - I needn't be mentioning this. It's so obvious. =P
3. Read stuff - I don't usually have the patience to sit and read during the day when its so freaky hot. I usually read in the night in bed. That doesn't make it much of a time-killer, does it? Anyway I'll just mention it for your sake.
4. Watch movies! - I always wanted to do this. I'll have to plan it out sometime with someone. Call a friend over for a day and collect your favourite movies to watch with some popcorn or french fries (I'll go for the french fries because we both hate popcorn!)
5. Start a project - Start a project on something that interests you. I doesn't have to be something to do with art or anything. If you've read "The Lottie Project" by Jacqueline Wilson you'll get an idea for a good project. There's this girl (I read it so long ago, I don't remember her name) who has a school project to write about life in the Victorian times. So she tries to be creative and rather than writing a report just about the life back then, she writes from a girl's point of view about how she lived and what she did. It's pretty interesting actually. You should try it!
6. Start a blog - Like this one. I'm not just going to post boring old stuff I've written, I'm also going to post anything and everything that interests me. Like that Reader's Digest thing, or even this article itself.
7. Play - I've just pumped up my basketball a few days back. I'm resolving to go leave my house and do something outdoors at least once every day!
8. Get together - Get together with some friends and bloody do something! Its boring sitting all alone at home, even if you actually do some of the things I've mentioned!
9. Take pictures and edit them - Take loads of pointless pictures both inside and outside the house. Anything that you think would look great framed, something colourful, weird, funny and all... Then copy them to the computer and edit them on sites like picnik and fotoflexer. Its actually kinda fun! If you want you can even print them and use them to decorate your room wall!
10. Maintain a book or a file. Collect your favourite newspaper articles, pictures from National Geographic or something, 'words of wisdom' from your favourite books, old things that fascinate you, and others. File them up to re-do next summer.
And lastly, I wanted to mention how long I took, almost an hour and a half to think things up and type them here! Its a pretty good time killer itself!
Also, notice how all of the ten time killers barely use the power. Barely, not that they don't use the power at all. So here's some stuff to keep you busy when the power's cut!
Ive mentioned ten things here. Not all of them will intrigue you, but I hope at-least some will, so that this hour-and thirty-one-minutes wasn't a complete waste!
